Good morning N4ms from NC!!!

Hi AnnieNC, thanks! I've got a lot to get use too in regards to Navy life. My son graduates April 19th...It's just so hard to hear anything at all about what's going on!! I am very proud of him, make no mistake about that, just didn't think it would be that hard. But counting those Fridays...and it's closer now than it has been! :)

Navymomx2...Amen.

puertorico42, yes...our sons are very alike! Mine even told me after seeing the recruiter in April that it was a done deal. He had signed his contract, no way to back out then. Later I found out that he still had more to sign, get sworn in, and other things. Of course I did not find that out until he was out of boot camp. :-/ I suppose that is why he makes a good man for intelligence...he tells NOTHING! lol

I agree with the other Moms. It is hard enough to say goodbye but going to the airport will make it that much worse. This is my 2nd time around so it gets easier as time goes by although I still miss them both as much as did when they first left. Every step is a new step/experience but each one is preparing them for the next.

I know I am sorry I missed everyone as well. Mary(chrismom) you made me laugh because my son sounds just like yours lol. We had to call his recruiter and got all the info from him. He was very nice and said we could call him anytime. My son is very smart but does not like asking  questions and is not very imformative. That is one of the reason why I joined the site ao I can inform myself. LOL. I did hear from my SR that saturday afternoon for about 5mins.

puertorico42, sorry you were not able to meet us for lunch Saturday. We missed you. I hope you get to hear from your sailor soon.

Oh and fcr73...I was going to send my son in oooold clothes he could just throw away at GL but his recruiter made him come home before heading to Charlotte to change into jeans without holes. So he ended up buying a box to send home his personal items from boot camp.

rcf73, My son did all his preliminary paperwork etc without consulting me. He came home and announced his ship out date (about 5 months later) and then he was actually sworn in when he went to MEPs the second time to actually ship out. He never told me that I could go for the swearing in but that's just him. Never checks all the details ahead of time! It is really hard to say good bye when they leave for boot so don't attempt to go to the airport. You will only make yourself and your sailor miserable in front of everyone. They are used to it at MEPs though. Her recruiter should be able to tell you about the swearing in ceremony and how to get to the MEPs building.

Hello rcf734 My son is in botcamp and he left from Charollte March 19th we live in Kernersville North Carolina. My son swear in was at 10am, but it took about a little over 1hr to drive with traffic through Charotte. Brimg your camera because they let you take pics of the swear in. Make sure you have your I-ds with you. They advise that you dont to the airport to say your good-bys there. I am still new at this and I am learning as wel. If you want to friend me you can. Also check out link far as her PIR date and the meet and greet. My sons graduates May 17th and we are driving up there. You will get one phone call to let to know they have arrived about 20 seconds so dont get upset. After that you will get a boxed mailed to you with her personal belonings. Within a week after. They can not call you until they are told they can. You will also get a Form letter with her address. Freind me if you have anymore questions.
