My daughter is scheduled to go to MEPS in Charlotte, NC on Friday. She will not graduate high school until June 15 so she will not be be starting boot camp until sometime after that date. Can anyone give me a run down of what to expect Friday and a suggestion on what time my husband and I should arrive so we don't miss the swearing in?
Thanks again Mary for the link. Hope you all had a great visit. Thanks Bunker QB for the links. Thought I might take a look at their page and also the base there. Since my sailor is not yet on the Shiloh, or that base I will joke with him and tell him that I will know more about the base and ship than he does!! lol
Adam's PM, that sounds good to me right now. I had thought just as you...somewhere around the middle of June is probably better as you say, many maybe thinking about vacation at the end of the month. NCNarrator, we did have a nice time getting to know more about each other. I do hope more can come next time.
So sorry I missed the meet up at IHOP yesterday! My niece came into town yesterday for the Easter holiday...hopefully I'll be able to make it next time!
Thanks for posting this, BunkerQB. I've checked this list several times in the last couple of months (hoping it would be updated), but it still doesn't list the USS Cheyenne, the sub my son will be on. Wonder what's up with those moms? :-)
Mary and percussionvalentine, I enjoyed yesterday's visit, too! Hope to meet even more of you at the next one. If we want to do it quarterly, the next would fall around June 29th, but that's right before the week of the Fourth, and many might be unavailable again. Does June 22nd look good as a tentative date? Or do we want to do it sooner?

Happy Easter to all Navy Moms. I joined just to post this info. Please pass along this info. Fair winds and following seas to all our sailors.
Happy Easter everyone! Percussionvalentine and Adam's Proud Mom...great to meet you both yesterday. I'm sorry more moms did not show up but holiday weekends and beautiful spring days are sometimes just too inviting!
To everyone who has a sailor at home, give them a squeeze and a big "thank you" for me. I will be missing mine now for a long time but with Skype and Navy Moms, I will survive!
May everyone have a wonderful day!
Often the smaller ships don't have a lot on them. Another place to try is flicker.com but it takes more searching there. You can sometimes find some cute pics there though of things the sailors do on board or while they are in port.
Mary, I checked out that link. I had forgotten about this link. I used this one a lot when my oldest son went in. Facebook was not real big at that time. I have a book that I had written down different links and used them often.
