Well, I learned something new today. Thank you Adam's Mom!

Yes, Mary, they're both in Rockingham county.  Eden is made up of the three towns that used to be Leaksville, Draper, and Spray.

I like the idea of meeting once each quarter.

Adam'sProudMom, isn't Reidsville near Eden, NC, which many years ago was named Spray? I had some distant cousins who lived in Eden. I went there several times when I was young. You are right...they sure talk different there! lol

nswc80, A mom from Statesville has company coming in for the holiday but she wants to meet later as well. Maybe we can plan to do this once each quarter?

percussionvalentine, I am looking forward to meeting you. I will try to bring some pictures of the area around Atsugi next weekend. He will enjoy his time in Japan and he will get to see a lot of Asia.

Friends in the  Triad area...I would love to meet at IHOP but that is Easter weekend and we will be at the coast for spring break.  Would love to join you another time.

:-D  Or "Saturday week," as they used to say in Reidsville. I came to NC from CA when I was in high school (back in the '60s!), and got to learn a whole new way of expressing (and pronouncing) so many things.

Chris, about taking up a whole section: The last time we did this (Dec. 2011), many people said they were planning to make it, so we expected to have a small crowd. As it turned out, three of us showed up! We still had a great visit, though.

We haven't heard in a while from many who expressed interest. Hope they can still make it, too!

lol....Adam'sProudMom, Yes, the 30th is on my calendar. I should know better by now than to say next Saturday. It really can confuse me too. I suppose it is late enough in the week that I call three days from now, THIS Saturday. So we are still good with Saturday, March 30th, which is a week and a half from now, whether we call it next Saturday or the Saturday after next! There!!! Are we all confused now? teehee

Comment by Adam'sProudMom on March 20, 2013 at 2:14pm

Didn't we settle on the 30th for IHOP? That's what I have on my calendar. (And yes, it was 11:00.) That would be a week from next Saturday, right? (Or does Next Saturday mean a week from This Saturday?) Just want to make sure, so we all meet on the same day!

Comment by Mary (Chris' mom) on March 20, 2013 at 7:33am

Chris, 11:00 was the last time mentioned, so I have that on my calendar.

I used to think if my son was married he would be so happy and I wouldn't have to worry he was alone across the world. Now, I have mixed emotions about it and I think sometimes he does too. I know he wants to be in NC for a few days to see friends, grandparents, etc but it seems her family is taking all their time. He will not complain about it to her or even to me, but I can feel it, and hear it in his voice. I do take comfort in the fact that when his ship is in for a few months, he does have someone to be with. I think overall he is much happier married than single. Do we EVER stop worrying about our kids?? lol

Your sailor will find someone soon enough and rather than 1/2 the worry you can have double the worry. :-) It will be good to meet you and anyone else who still plans to come next Saturday.

Mary, glad you got to see them, it is so hard "sharing"  (I'll be glad when my sailor gets a better half, so she can share 1/2 the worry, but until then...:) I'll take it!)
