My son just got order for Cherry point...the end of October. He is a corpsman with C school in optometry....Can you tell me about Cherry Pont Base. He and his new wife will be looking for a place to live etc.
Hey oceanby, he is undesignated at this point so I don't know what he will be doing. His recruiter told me he will be training for several jobs and will eventually get to choose one. Right now I am taking the wait and see approach.
Zette, I sent you a friend request. I saw your son was staying in Great Lakes for A school. What will he be training for? Mine is also staying there. He is training for Quartermaster. They'll be there together!
Thanks Oceanby :)). I have been unmercifully stalking the mailman hoping to get my first letter. You are right; boot camp does change things. This is my sr's first time really being away from home. It is quite possible that I am freaking out a lot more than he is. I can't wait to see him at graduation.
Welcome beachbum and zette! So happy to see you on our page! My son is at Great Lakes now too. His PIR is 10/5. I just received my first letter yesterday-so zette, look for yours next Thursday. My son told me he wouldn't write, but in yesterday's letter he told me he has a bunch of letters to mail, they just wouldn't let him mail them all! My....how boot camp changes things! If you see other moms on here close to you, try to do a dinner and get together. (I think that is what we are trying to organize here) Welcome!
Hi everyone! I am from Cherryville, NC. My son left for BC on 8/20 and is presently in GL. His PIR is 10/12. After that, he will go to A school also in GL. I also have a daughter in the National Guard. It is exciting to be part of a group of Navy moms. Looking forward to meeting other moms in the area.
Hey Everyone !!! I am a Mom who lives outside Fayetteville NC. My son is currently at BC in Great Lakes Illinois. He will be headed to Groton CT when he PIR's. Very excited to be part of a great group. The Navy is all new to me, as I am a Army veterans wife. But I am learning the lingo slowly.
I see your post Hismom and Oceansby (and western moms). I will check out the Holiday project Chris! thanks so much. This is a busy busy week....so I'll be able to plan for something soon. Stay tuned. I'd like to get us together :)
Hey All it's been a long time since I have been on this sight. My son joined in Oct. 2010. He has been in Italy a little over 9 months and I miss him very much. He is our only child. I'm from Kinston so I'm not to far away. It's good to know that there are other navy mom's close by.
