Hey all, and welcome to all the new moms. This is a wonderful site. I'm not on here as much as I use to be, as when I son was first in. My son is stationed in San Diego and will be in 4 yrs. this Aug. PIR is a special time for you and your sailor. I live close to VA. Had really hoped to go the the get together in Dec. but missed it, so hoping to get to go if they do another one.
Hi, My SR also has a PIR date of 02/17. I'm in Salisbury. Flying to O'Hare on 02/16. Can't wait. He then goes to Nuke school in Goose Creek which is only 4 hours away. Thrilled about that.
Hi Chocolatelablover, We're about 4 hr apart according to map quest. Have a great time at PIR-get as much info as u can off the site as I was unaware of all the activities that go on! And sit high in the stands in front of your son's group (there are signs). There is SO much to take photos of if you take a camera. Wish I had a video, wide angle on a tripod just to catch a glimpse of everything! Some of the ceremony takes up the entire field house--I loved it. Nothing like a military ceremony. I am vet of Army. My older brother was a corpsman in the Navy (70's) and liked it. My son is ET in A school at GL at least until April. Have a great trip.
Hi All, New here, just became Navy Mom in March 2011. Live in Graham, just west of Chapel Hill. Nice to be here.

Thanks so much b2pooh, I look forward to that. Send me a message and we will plan something. Look at South West out of Asheville to Milwaukee, they usually have the best deals, no fee for a checked bag and no change fee. Sometimes you can get lucky and get very cheap flights. Talk soon :-) I think I am taking the girls and a couple friends to the movies tomorrow afternoon at the Biltmore Grande if you would like to join me and 4 teenage girls that would be awesome :-)
