FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please let me know if any you decide to get together. I am about 20 mins from Greensboro, 45 mins to and hour from Raleigh.

I agree surfermom...just let me know when and I will be there!!  I'm a lil preoccupied this week as I'm heading to GL's for his PIR.  Emotions are everywhere.  For some reason I seem like I'm as emotional as the week he left. I'm just glad I finally get to see him and talk to him!!!

My son's original PIR was 9/30 but he's in RCU right now. I'm thinking he may PIR in Nov or Dec but not sure right now until I hear more.

My son left last Tuesday, Sept 13th. from Raleigh. Any NC Navy moms whose sons left the same time.

Welcome, Karen! I live just outside of Winston-Salem.  My son is also at boot camp and his PIR is 9/30.  This has been quite a journey... it has had many ups and down, but this site, and the women on it, have been a lifesaver!

Hi KarenF, I am in Burlington. My son left Aug 28th... I just my first letter this past Thursday. So it is on the way~ It took 3wks for me to get my letters and I was so happy.
