CTN is something to do with Network, if I had to guess, I think it is computer hacking lol. CTI is languages, I think and then there is like CTR, and a couple other. CTNs are the only ones not assigned ship duty at all but others probably have limited time on ships. I know it takes forever to get the clearance to get the job and then they are completely tight lipped. My son tells people he is a cook or plumber LOL! I told him, he is going to be in trouble if they ever ask him to cook something for them or fix the plumbing LOL! It is amazing to send away boys (girls) and have them come back strong confident men (or women).
Mamasea- heard that Monterey is beautiful! My son is hoping to see the world but probably will be in Maryland for another couple of years, then who knows! I know you can't wait to see him!!
CTI and CTN are Crypto? Languages. Not sure what they do and I know they can't tell you much. My son took the test and said that it was the hardest test he ever took. He love taking test, he was the nerd in school. He couldn't tell me anything about the test so I don't know. I've spoken with retired Army, Air Force, etc and they all told me that they took the test and it was not good for them. Anyway my son is very excited about it so I hope that he will be happy. He will be going to Monterey Ca for A school. He is married and has a son so his wife sends him letters every day sometimes two a day. I have written him a couple of letters but since his wife is living with me mostly what I write is the same thing she is writing. Anyway 17 more days!
Hey lorryfitz I live in BSL and work in Bolivia. My son is in bootcamp and will be graduating 6/3. momoffour my son is going cti and will be in california. Glad to hear what you are saying about not being on shiip. He was told that he would be deployed but not for more than 6 months and then there would be months between any other deployments. His wife was hoping that would be the case but was scared the recruiters had just told them what she wanted to hear.
LOL! I live in Waterford, so I bet we know some of the same people! We should all me up! Lorry- just looked at your name and realized our sons know each other!! If your son use to wrestle then I have the right guy in mind! Such a small world!
Annie- I am at "the big house" nhrmc. His job is the only one in the Navy not to be deployed on a ship. Its CTN and most if not all of his job, come with him saying " I can't tell you". He is hoping to be eventually hooked up with a SEALs team so he will be going to some scary places, I will probably never know much. He rarely wears a uniform. He had to make a six year commitment so hopefully everything falls into place for him but you never know! We should all meet up for sure!
