Sonjaangelgirl, I am in Hickory, which isn't too far from Huntersville. I am praying for you. My son leaves in exactly 1 month to the day and I am not looking forward to the first 2 weeks. It's OK to be sad and I know I will probably be crying a whole lot. Maybe going back to work will help get your mind on other things? Please let me know if I can do anything for you. Also, keep us updated on what is going on with your son and how he is doing. Susan

New mom here - Huntersville, NC - anyone close by to help out - emotions are over the top as my son and I were connected at the cell phone. He's at BC - how long until the package arrives - I'm still cleaning everything and going back to work tomorrow - it was just too much.

Congrats to all those who are approaching the PIR, it is such an exciting time! My son is about to finish a 6 month school before leaving for his duty station.. He will probably be there for a LONG LONG time, he kind of wanted to see the world but his rate really does not go on ships and you have to be in for a while to get to go overseas. He would love to go to Japan! Hang in there moms! It is so much better after BC and they get their cell phone back!! On a side note,we use to live in Hickory for several years and loved it! We now live in Wilmington.

Kris, I live in Hickory so I know exactly where Claremont is :) My son leaves for basic on October 25. I can't wait to hear from you on how PIR goes. I have so many questions!! I assume that your son went through the Hickory office? What is his rate? Susan

Hi Ginny,
I've gotten about 5 letters so far but the only call was the i'm here. He was on watch when his div. made their calls 2 weeks ago and was not allowed to make it up because the division p'd off the rdc's (at least he said if he didn't call last Sun. that would be why) His letters are funny and he knows boot camp is all a "mind game" (language cleaned up) so I know he's doing well and I'm hanging in there :) only 24 more days till his PIR!!!!!!

Hello Ladies I am fairly new to this group My son just had PIR on Aug 6th and is now in A school in MS I just want to encourage those that are still going through BC or are about to start at this time Trust me the beginning is very hard and it will seem like the longest 8 weeks of your life especially because of the separation and not being able to communicate but I am telling you take it one day at a time. The letters will eventually come and so will a couple of calls ( I received 3 not counting the I am a Sailor call) so I encourage you to hold on Some days you may want to cry or maybe you will feel a little down and thats OK This site has been a blessing Join some groups and talk to the ladies that are going through with you or have already been through Hold on because I tell you that Sailor call and the PIR is one of the best things that you will witness and it is well worth the wait as well as the anticipation of seeing them again Again Stay encouraged God Bless Take Care I am in the Raleigh Area

Hey Christina, and hey to everyone else too. It is very hard when they to go are they are waiting to go. My son has been in for 2 years this August. He is stationed in San Diego. Miss him alot, but he has grown and matured so much. He did really well in BC and I'm such a very proud mom of him. Christina, I'm in Stokes County, so I'm not very far from you. Good luck to all you moms. BC was the hardest for me.
