It is nice to be back in GSO weather. PIR was wonderful to see as was my sailor. I'm hoping the snow there on the" first day of spring" will be the last we see until Christmas!!!

Whoops! I meant "all" you moms waiting for PIR!!! :)

My son informs me that it is not the thing to do to comment on something that you've just written on a forum. Oh, well........no one said his mother was up-to-date on internet etiquette!

Martyzmom.......great story. My son has had someone buy him breakfast at the airport in Gso. and it was the fellow working behind the counter ! He would not take any money from my son. Also, I had never known that you could go out to the gate with them until my son showed up in his summer whites and they told us what we needed to do to be able to go to the gate with him.
SuzieB - Hilarious story!
Hang in there are you moms waiting for PIR!!!

Suzie B:
That is the funniest story! I wonder what your daughter responded or could she? She must have been speechless....maybe with laughter?!
Pat's PIR ( and now I know what that is!) should be April 16th. He started February 17th so he should be in the beginning or middle of his 5th week. I'm just...move along week...move along! He sent a letter to his grandmother in California and she was thrilled. She feels very good now (at first aprehensive) about him being in the Navy. She thinks it great!
Very touching story, Cathy. I would have done the same thing that that lady did!
Haev a good week ladies.

My son is now in Pensacola and seems to really be enjoying it!! I know he is just glad to get away from the weather in the GL. It was a brutal trip getting there for us, 19 hours in the car! I came home sick but it was all worth it to be there for PIR

Hi, All. Wow, I have missed being on this site. Have been on vacation for the past week.....skiing. It's so nice to be back in NC where everything is starting to bloom!!! I was amazed the difference a week could make!
I want to tell you something I saw last night at the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport. We were sitting at the gate to come home and a small group (6-7) enlisted sailors in dress blues walked by and the two couples across from us started clapping for them. I had just spent the week with my son and it made me very proud of him and those sailors. It warmed my heart.

SuzieB, I am also interested in the zoo in spring and I love orchids! :) Keep us posted.

Connie-Matt's Mom:
Thanks for the clarification on PIR. Yes, I think I'm getting the hang of it. I got another letter from Pat yesterday. I write everyday. Yes, I do! Ever since I read that the kids really look forward to mail call.
He answered my questions about the tests. He's at the end of his 3 weeks and passed the swim test (all those Mommy and Me classes helped I guess!) I'll bet Pat's just looking forward (I'm really kidding....) to the "Dark Night of the Soul AKA the Battle Stations!
Well, over and out for now. Thanks again.....all you wonderful ladies for your support.
