Hi NC Moms. I am in Burlington, NC. My son is currently in OCS 12-10 in Newport, RI. I look forward to getting to know other Mom's in the piedmont.

Thank you, Tina and Sue. I live in Greensboro, also. Just let me know when the next "meet and greet" is. I would love to come.

Hello NC Moms. I am excited to find a group from NC. I am new to this site. It was also good to see that there is a Triad group which is where I live. My son is finishing up his NROTC program this spring at UNC and will commission then. I am excited for him and sad too that I will not have as much contact with him as I have been able to in the past. I know I will be glad to have the support of other Navy Moms!

Cathy,
Sorry you haven't been able to talk to your son by phone. Do you have his military email address? When my son was on deployment calls were rare but I made him promise to at least send me a small email message every couple days just to know that he was still ok. He would get to a computer and just send a short message. Their military email address should follow them wherever they go.

Hi, I'm new to this site. I saw one mom from Durham; are there any more? My son's PIR is 1/15/10 then it's straight off to Monterrey. I'm pretty overwhelmed about not hearing from him since he left except for one letter. We're going up and hope we get to see him. Can anyone give me some tips for the trip and how to cope with not hearing from him? Are there any get togethers for those of us missing our kids in central NC?

Happy New Years!!!
Johnsmom,
I love that saying - is it your creation? I would like to copy it and send it to my daughters - one at college and the other in the Navy. Can I give you credit?

SJ,
That was very sweet!! Thank YOU for your decision. My daughter is stationed in Washington. If you ever have to go to PSD at Kitsap for anything with your records you might run into her!!!
Take care - enjoy your time at home - and stay safe!!!!

I have a question for you ladies! How did your sailor handle his finances while in BC. He is only nineteen but he does pay for his car and I was wondering if he should put me on his account so I can handle it for the 8 weeks. He has no idea when to expect money from the Navy to hit his account so I am thinking I will be paying that bill for the next two months LOL!

Martyzmom,
When my daughter had to get her ID picture taken during the processing days of bc, she had been up for hours, had several shots, and was pretty much pi55ed off with the world. Her ID picture looked like she was ready to kill!!! It was so much NOT like her normal sweet, smiley, sunshiney personality!!! I wish I could have kept that picture because it was just so funny. As soon as she got out to A school she had a new ID made!!!!
