Hi, I've been busy with my grandson visiting for a few days. Took him driving to see Christms lights and the Christmas trains that a neighbor puts out every year. Put up the tree last night. Gonna take him to Sunrise Mall today and get pics taken today.

Ok, everyone must be off shopping or baking for the holidays. I just finished up with my baking and putting together goodie trays for all I need to send to. My house smells wonderful with all the different goodies.

Paymaster, I will keep you in my prayers that all will go well and that the timing will be right for your son to spend the holidays with his family - what a precious time! I am so excited that our son will be home for almost 2 weeks during standdown at A school this year; I know that it will not always be so...

nvmomma....Glad you are back in communications with your son.

I called my last night to check in with him before he departs today. Of course he was trying to pack, the girls wanted his attention , the baby was crying and his wife was trying to get a shower in. So our conversation lasted about 1 minute, just long enough to tell him we loved him. It will be very quiet at his end until they return to port.

Can't wait until Christmas when we head down to hopefully see him and his family. We know we will get to see our DIL and grandchildren, just hope the ship makes it back to port on time. You just never know what will come up in two weeks and how plans can be changed.

PS: on the bright side, being back in communication is wonderful! Texted all day & Skyped at the airport during our Denver layover (he had to wait @ O'Hare for 8 hours), and then again to say goodnight last night! Miss my hugs tho' :/

I guess I was holding out hope that we would see him one more time at the airport before our flight - he was supposed to be arriving in time to see us, but he was late. I left his phone & laptop with the USO when I realized we might not see him, and he texted us just before we boarded - whe was just going through security. He was going to try to get to us (I pictured him sprinting through the concourse - he's a runner) but it was too late. We were all so bummed. Add in stress & exhaustion = meltdown on plane. :( Have to get used to it...

Ladies....Welcome to my world. Its one of the hardest thing you will ever have to do as a mom is watch them walk away and know what they are off to do.

God Bless them all

nvmomma, I had a meltdown after PIR, too. It is understandable after such an emotional weekend.

Thanks for the encouragement, Alaina, hope you're right! He was grad & go, just arrived at his A School in Goose Creek, SC tonight - he is an ET nuke.
