Hi all, I just joined N4M's a few days ago, excited to find so many moms from this area! My son is in BC; we are attending his PIR on 12/3/10. He is grad & go, will be leaving Sat. for A school in SC (I'm a nuke mom). He has received his Navy ballcap, and doesn't have much left to do until grad. He has called us 3 days this week! Wednesday he called to let us know he is an official sailor; Thursday he was adopted by his best recruit buddy's dad & they spent the whole day on the phone & facebook; then today he called again unexpectedly because he had recruit holiday (?) & got to go to 'recruit heaven' (NEX) for most of the afternoon - he called, then spent 2-3 hours on fb. I can't get anything done, I'm so distracted! Can NOT wait to see him! Thanks, paymaster, for the warm welcome!

Hi everyone, I hope your Thanksgiving was a good one. We had a nice time at my brother's. I ate WAY too much though.....! LOL Guess it's a holiday hazard.

Happy Thanksgiving Nor. Cal families, I'm staying home. It will be just my youngest, my Mom and step-father. The rest of the family will get together at Christmas time when Chrissy is home on leave. My speciality is Walnut Pumpkin pie.

Welcome Wolf Girl! We're going to my brother and SILs for dinner. Neither of my kids will be there:( It will also be the first Thanksgiving since my dad passed away (last May). I'm bringing the pumpkin pie, but our family specialty has become Yummy Yams. Yams cooked like mashed potatoes with brown sugar, evaporated milk and chopped walnuts. It's moe like dessert than a side dish. (we all have a sweet tooth!)

I hope everyone has a wonderful time whatever you're doing and safe travels for those leaving town.

Wolf Girl..Welcome to our part of the sunshine! So what are you doing for Thanksgiving.

Linda....You got off easy having only to do dish for 20 as a kid. My mother came from a family of 10 children with 2 cousins being raised by her mother, so there was no less than 26 adult for dinner. Thanksgiving was a huge event with us kids eating in the backyard on plywood tables.

So what is everyone doing for Thanksgiving?
Were having friends over for dinner. Having all the normal stuff along with the house specialty, Orange rolls.

So what is your special dish you make for Thanksgiving?

Also irishfan, your sailor-to-be can have up to 4 guests, they have to put the names on a security list.
