Hey Everybody: We are home. Wow, Phoenix is FLAT - I kept looking for mountains. It is not as flat as I initially thought it would be - but it is definately FLAT. Beautiful, but I am very glad to be home. Came home to a snow storm. It was a good trip. Have heard from the sailor - all is good. I missed Blue Star Mom's yesterday due to a vehicle confussion (spouse had BOTH sets of keys) - thought that only happened when KIDS lived in the house. Oh, he is over 60 - so is that second child hood already? Too soon for a second go around at the teenage years - that's not allowed till 80. Okay, just checking in. Welcome to the newbees. Sorry that my udpate is so late. The job is well - not yet. I am volunteering full time to cover the receptionist at the DA's office. They are trying to fund a position for me. They are loosing spots due to the financial situation. However, I was told I was worth at least three people. So, they want me. However, no check yet. Three more weeks I think - then we will see. It is nice to be in the working world.
Okay got to get to church - have a great day, I hope that someone can help out here - it is such an important out reach. I still haven't made it to the local recruiter's to get a N4M flyer to them to let them know about us. Time just keeps slipping away from me. Susan

Heloisa is the creator of the group (she started it). The Navy For Moms admins asked if I would help out. I kept the original logo and tried (it seems without success) to keep the group in the same way (philosophy, spirit) that Heloisa would have wanted while introducing little things to make it more interesting. You can have as many admins as you want. I sent her a message after I started the SF group, I have not heard from her.

Yay! Chrissy called me today. She is happy she got a duty section leadership position. She has 3 weeks of FC-A school, then 2 weeks of ATT. She got verbal orders for San Diego, C school. Should get the written orders soon. She is getting a raise in May, and will be coming home in June sometime. Bea, what happen to Helosia? Isn't she the admin of this group? Her name is at the top.

Things are good for me, especially after I found out that my hearing lost was just wax built-up. LOL. We really need someone (from the SAC would be the best) who can look for new members and send them a greeting with an invite to join the North Cal group. I do that for the SF Bay Area (including Marin and East Bay) but I just can't find time to get to the others because a lot of my time has been taken with the New Moms Stop Here group (one of the admins just sold their home and is moving). I have the MS Publisher file I use to create the calendar. I can forward that to the new admin along with a file on setting up events. I know that are new members out there from the Sac area who would appreciated a welcome message from this group.

I hope that things are okay Bee - I'm sorry with things so very much up in the air in my little world (no job yet) I just can't. I am currently volunteering at the DA's office in hopes that they will be able to fund a position. I certainly have enjoyed all of your hard work and dedication - especailly seeing you and getting to know you in person. My heartfelt thanks, Susan

Good morning, everyone. I will be easing away from my admin duties very soon. Would anyone be interested in being the admin for this group? I will stay on as a back up, as long as I am needed. I have enjoyed the opportunity to get to know a number of you (and meeting some in person). Best regards to you and your sailor.
Sincerely yours, B.

To all....I love having all my Navy mom's about. That is my intention of hosting Meet and Greets to be with you all.

I also have a strong sense of community service. I work with other groups providing volunteer support for individuals and groups.

My intention was to bring my Navy's mom together and try and do something for others in need.

I know many are having a tough time right now, then there are some who are in the position to help others.

I was hoping that those that are in a position to help others would like going out and purchasing a new toy for a child would appreciate it.

I was just trying to make my meet and greet a little different with the quilt idea.

I love to quilt, and my daughter and I thought it would be fun for those Navy mom's that wanted to a bring a toy to the meet and greet would get a chance at winning a quilt.

I also thought it would be fun if I can get one of the Marine Reserves to attend and make it a little more interesting.

Thank you for letting me share my thoughts and intentions.

Oh, ok, thanks for clearing that up.

Vicky, Paymaster does a fun raising to collect toys for Toys for Tots - she's is doing a raffle for one of her fabulous quilts for the Nov M&G. She and I thought at least the last two M&G could be used for this purpose. But it's all strictly voluntary. Your presence at the meet and greet is the real reason we are having the M&G. Personally, a time to be together is the gift. The other stuff is just extra. I have run across the most generous people within the Navy Family. Many of the families within and outside of the Navy are having a tough time - dumb economy. I am seeing signs of it getting better.

Why do we need a raffle? Do we need to raise money?
