Susan....all are welcome. I don't know if any other dad's are coming. Hey, so long as he enjoys the company, the more the merrier.

Hi Everybody: Sunday is coming up for our second visit! I'm so excitted. Jody; can husband's come? I'm just checking first - before the question comes up - or before he says 'if this is a just for mom's thing' I'll go and do the shopping. I do think that dad's need support too - and they aren't as vocal about it - but when it happens for them, it is awesome. Plus, I don't want to miss out on a 'shopping opportunity'; even if it is just for groceries! Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday at 11~ Susan

Robyn,
Have you resolved the issue with the airline tickets? Let us know how for our "FYI" file.
According to my source a the recruiting office:
Your sailor's airline tickets should be changeable and fully refundable. There should be some contact info that came with the tickets (maybe in a cover letter, if by mail) or check all pages and links (if by email).

Regards, B.

Hi Robyn. There is an Ombudsman group with this site - can they help you? That is how I got my info. If you already have the contact information you are way ahead of where I was.
Our sailor is at Bangor, WA transfering from sub duty to shore duty. He has been in six years. While it is a blessing to have them (he and his family) on this side of the states. I do wish that Japan had worked for them - it would have been a great opportunity. But, it may happen - So, what does your sailor do? Ours is a nuke. Please keep us posted~s

I'm a little late chiming in on this - there is am Ombudsman group with this site - please check it out. They were WONDERFUL for me when I was seaking information. If you know next to nothing - or have questions - they are very helpful. They are 'official' link between the families and the sailors.
Robyn please forgive my ignorance as I don't know you as well as I should - is your sailor married? That would be the first question. If not - then you are the direct link for the ombudsman. That is the first step. To find out who the ombudsman were for our sailor - I used this site - and the group was AWESOME. Please check it out. I wish I had the contact information to share with you - but our sailor is in transition now - and going to shore duty.
I hope that this helps - my angel blessings, Susan

Robyn,
Sent you a private message yesterday. Don't think you got it.
Just wanted you to know that I had emailed the officer. I am on my way to Los Angeles. Won't be back until tomorrow. May not be able to check email until Wed.
Regards, B.

Robin,
Shortly before our son's deployment, we got a "Pre-Delpoyment Booklet" from the boat's Ombudsman The package came by USPS with information regarding emergency contacts, etc. and number for Red Cross with the toll free number is 877-272-7337. We got our packet within one week prior to deployment. The booklet we got looked pretty spiffy and official along with a cover letter. I found out from other moms that not everyone got one of these things. Someone mentioned that the Ombudsman is a volunteer position(a wife of one of the senior officers was mentioned) and that the sailor has to give the Ombudsman the name and address of family member. I concluded that every boat does things differently. Try going to the LA or GW group and asked if anyone has any info on the boat's Ombudsman's contact number or email.
On issue between orders and airline ticket dates, there's got to be a mix up somewhere. Your son should have some chain of command contact numbers that he has been given. We know a friend fairly high up in recruitment, we can email him on Monday, if you want.
