It is going to be 66 degrees where I live by the sea in McKinleyville, Humboldt County.  I hope that it will cool off in the Sacramento Valley soon!    I used to live in Visalia, so I understand about heat.  I am so sorry....too early in the season!!!

Hi there everyone, this is my first visit to the site. Thanks for the welcome.

My son is DEP and leaves Dec 5th.  His job assignment is Logistics Specialist. Of course, I have lots of questions but it appears I have found the right place to help get answers. I am already trying to appreciate everyday I have left with him and it's probably driving him crazy but that's what moms are for....lol

My son will be 19 in August and is my youngest of 2 boys. We live in Citrus Heights which is between Sacramento and Roseville.

It's been a difficult road, this decision, not necessarily for my son but for my husband as he has been against it from the beginning.  My husband supports the military and is somewhat of a military buff but for some reason was against if for our son. I think its the loss of control myself but he would never admit that...lol. Anyway he is getting more accepting to the idea and as I learn I try to share with him so that by the time my son leaves my husband will be proud.

Look forward to learning from all of you! Have a great day!
