OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hey Linda..thanks for the information. I am so hoping I get another letter today or tommorrow!!! I have sent 7 letters I think and not sure if any have reached Jody. He had 1 year of college and 9 months of full-time work under his belt and he did score well on ASVAB so maybe that is how he is in the division. He is not musical or anything else. The letter I got was dated Nov 29th and said they started Day 1 on the 1st of Dec due to being held over for Thanksgiving. My son left on the 19th..when did Ken leave?

Linda - Thanks for the info on the 909 - it makes sense for Keith because he is extremely athletic and left college just shy of his graduation from Binghamton University and did very well on the ASVAB. My son is a talker - so the not talking is must be really really hard for him. As for listening to orders, I don't know about that - he has had an extreme case of mother deafness for years! LOL!

Hey guys!
Philip wrote in his letters to me that their mail was held until 11/30 meaning none coming or going until then. After that I think mail only comes and goes on Sundays. He mentioned in his letters that he doesn't understand how they are supposed to work as a team when they are not allowed to talk but he guesses they know what they are doing. LOL He is not muscial at all either but he did score high on is ASVAB and his recruiter told him he should try to get in a Performance Division if he could. Overall he sounded positive and said some of the folks up there were good at trying to help them adapt. Phone calls from our guys this week sure would be a nice treat!!! -

Hi Ladies, For Jody, Ken left on the 18th. No letters today but from what I've gleaned from the site, most families get letters on Wednesdays which makes sense if the recruit had a chance to write on Sunday. As for their performing for PIR, I don't think it is a musical thing but rather a marching event that the 909 always does. Ken is not overly athletic nor musical except for his beloved guitars but he did well on the ASVAB and has a BA in Sociology. He is approx. one year short of completing his Masters in Education but got the Navy "calling" and figured he could finish his education at a later date. In our only letter, he said their RDC (recruit division chief) was intimidating at first but once they started doing things right, that he is more of a teacher. Ken also said the RDC had an amazing sense of humor and said some of the funniest things he ever heard to people that "screwed-up". I would imagine it would be hard to keep a straight face. He did write that mistakes generally turn into punishment but it isn't really bad - pushups, situps, reps of usually 8 that are completed quickly and done with. The no talking rule would also be difficult but I'm sure they find ways to communicate. To Philip's mom, Ken's only letter home was dated 11/27 and probably mailed 11/279 but I wonder why all the mail has been held since then? Hopefully we'll all get letters tomorrow!

My husband wrote in one of his letters that their division is a performing division. My husband himself will be doing the riffle throwing and some things with that. I recieved a letter wednesday the 9th and friday the 11th! Each envelope had about 7 letters in each. My friend recieved a phone call from her husband yesterday in another division. She said it is about a 1/2 an hour they actually talked. The phone call is supposed to be an hour but when they tell the men they can call they have to walk to the building itself place the phone call and walk back all within that one hour! Hope our division gets our phone call soon!

Nice to hear from you. We have started a "Group" for our guys that you may want to join. It's under "groups" and it's "Ship 6, Division 909", Look for the red, white and blue balloons. We've all been keeping up with what we are hearing from our recruits and supporting each other.
My son had written that he thought they were going to be allowed to call us on the 14th. Let's hope so!
