Anyone have a connection with San Diego California? One of the doctors that I work with has a son in the Marines and he is stationed there. He received word yesterday that his son was injured while training with the Navy. He has yet to make contact with anyone who knows the extent of his injuries. We've called hospitals etc.... and nothing. Waiting to hear from his recruiter, hoping he has an answer. The family's very anxious.

Southngal I know you are happy to have your hubby home. It must be difficult to have your spouse gone. I give you credit for being able to live the life. If mine is going to be gone longer than a week the company will pay for me to go also. Keeps me happy.

I hope you had a nice trip, with the expection of the heat!

Susan, most likely time will help. How old is he? He hasn't been there very long, so as he gets to meet new people and makes pals things should get better. We've heard everything from Andrew. Sometimes he says he is going to make a career of the Navy......another day he wants to buy a bunch of land and move back home as soon as he can........then he would like to tranfer to another branch of the service........last time he mentioned the future he said he would really like to stay in FL and buy a condo. We did get a letter from boot camp and he was so unhappy, I wanted to make his dad go rescue him. It upset us. He seems fine now though. I don't know. I am only a 'step', but until they get adjusted it can worry a parent to death. And the g/f back home is probably not a good ideal, unless they can give a lot of support and encouragement but most of the time g/f's are too needy. The only positive thing= be glad he is not a dramatic daughter, I have two of them.

Deb, we drove the 10hrs to Mayport from KY.
I am thinking about buying Kevin a ticket so he can fly into Jacksonville and spend a couple days with Andrew.
We stayed a the Comfort Inn Suites, and it was just okay. It was ocean front. Pool is nice and everything clean. Just not the nice beach we usually vacation at. We had a great time, we were there to see Drew and not the beach anyway. I would recommend the base Navy Lodge if possible. See if your son can make you a reservation.

I guess liberty depends on whats happening with his personal duty and ship??
