Proudmomma (14/176) I neglected to say that the USS Robert G Bradley is stationed in Mayport, FL. Our son has been there since April 2012. He is an IT.
Proudmomma (14/176) we have a son assigned to the Robert G Bradley (Frigate to be decommed end of March 2014). They returned from deployment in the Mediterranean at the end of May 2013. He has been pretty happy there. We live in Atlanta, GA.
Hello all! I am Melissa and my son just moved to Mayport the beginning of this month. I live in Washington. Looking forward to talking with other moms or significant others that have their sailors here.
Hi, marla.rae, My son and daugther-in-law are in Mayport. My son has been stationed at Mayport since July,2011. Mayport was his first choice, and we were so glad that he got stationed there. We are from Alabama, and my son's wife is from Georgia. They live on base and love it there. If you would like to talk to my daughter-in-law, I will give her your info. You are right about living in GA, Laura travels home quite often. Her family lives near Atlanta. We live near Tuscaloosa, so it is a little farther for us, but not bad. There are several places on bases for families to stay if your daughter is on base. The Navy Lodge is right on the beach and very reasonable, there are also some new cabins,RV park. Really nice base and lots of places to visit in the area. Donna Campbell (donna255429@yahoo.com)
Hi,
I'm new to this group. My daughter just received her orders and will be stationed in Mayport after she finishes C school in VA Beach. She will be finished late Oct. Or early Nov. I'm hoping you all can give me a bit of information about the area and housing for a young single woman. Should she start looking for housing or put her name on the base housing list?
I'm really excited about her being stationed in Mayport, as we live in GA. It is only a 5-6 hour drive for us and my husband travels that way all of the time. I can't wait to have her closer!
My husband and I will be in Mayport on 18July to visit Lindsay before her deployment. Can't wait to see her. It's been 2 1/2 yrs since her last deployment
My daughter loves Mayport and her ship.
My daughter just arrived last week to Mayport. USS Philippine Sea
Steph, is there an FRG for the ship your husband is on? There should be and they should be able to get you the info you need. Go the the ship's web page and check to see if any contact info is listed for the Family Resource Group. (It may be readiness instead of resource.)
