Can anyone tell me what I need to do or the process to being able to see my spouse arrive home? Everything is so hush hush that I don't even know what to do, where to go and what time. You can private message me. I'm new to this whole thing and could use some help.

My daughter reported to her ship today!  She was nervous.  New port and new ship for her.

My daughter now has her written orders to the Uss Gettysburg.  She has a week long school in San Diego, mid May I think.  Then she reports by the end of June.  Her fiance is staying in Norfolk but deploying in early April.  They are starting the process of separating their stuff!  His will go in storage and hers to FL.  Not sure how the logistics will work out. She may get a place and move before her school, not sure how her orders are worded.

Hi grandboboo, my daughter was on the Sullivans during her summer cruise for ROTC, about 4 or 5 yrs ago.She had a good experience on the ship I live near York.

slapout52, thanks for the housing advise.  My daugher wants to live off base.  She does now in Norfolk. I was in Mayport for a day or so when the Enterprise returned from her last deployment.  We met our son there and boarded the Enterprise to go on the last Tiger Cruise.  I remember Mayport being a small, nice base.  Norfolk is quite large! Lindsay is looking forward to moving.  No news on when, waiting for written orders, should come soon.

Hello All, My son will be moving to Mayport some time next July. I would love to be able to get some advice for him about housing, very close to base but off-base. Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

He is aboard the USS Hue City.  They were deployed for 6 months in 2012 & they will be leaving soon for another 6.  Don"t know about the Gettysburg.  He never sees his roommates :D  If your daughter has to live off base, she would do better to stay in the Atlantic Beach or Jax Beach area.  Jacksonville is huge.

Hi slapout52,

Nice to hear from you. What ship is your sailor on? Is the Gettysburg in port?  Do they deploy often?  Any recommendations for ideas to live in? My daughter is looking forward to leaving Norfolk and is really hoping her fiance will be stationed there too. Thanks for any info!

Hello all, I am a Navy mom.  Both of my children are in.  My husband was in the Navy in the 80's(for 7 yrs).  My two are currently stationed in Norfolk.  My son is on the USS Enterprise and my daughter is on the USS Ross.  She is the one moving to Mayport, probably this summer.  She's with her ship til April but doesn't know yet if she will be going to schools before heading out.  She is going to the USS Gettysburg! Any one have a sailor on that ship?

Are you looking for an apartment close to base or just in the area?
