Erin, my daughter-in-law put in for base living as soon as they found out where they were going. So your fiance may need to get in touch with base living and put in for a house. He found out the first week in June where they were going, and she contacted base living in early June, it was only a few days until they contacted her with a house. They had everything taken care of before he graduated in July. Since you aren't married yet, I would think your fiance would have to contact base living. There is also some nice houses right outside the base that are navy housing, but you don't have the security of living right on the base since they are outside of the gate. Some of their friends live in those houses and they are new.
Crimson-
We are also hoping to live on base but I wasn't sure if there was a wait list for housing or not. It would make moving to a new city a lot easier, especially since he is leaving for deployment in October. I will look up those pages...thank you!
Erin, my son just finished A school last July, and moved to NS Mayport at the end of July. He and my daughter-in-law live on base. They both like living on base. My son is deployed right now,, and my daughter-in-law has made lots of friends with wives who also live on base. She likes the security of base living, and being so close to the beach. They are close to everything. The traffic in Jacksonville can be pretty hectic. Hope you can adjust to Navy life as well as they have. My daughter-in-law made a lot of friends and support groups through facebook. Your husband's ship should have a facebook page, and there is a NS Mayport Wives' page. Good Luck.
Thank you MBC!
Erin, I sent you a friend request and a message. Wishing you both a beautiful wedding as well. Our son is in Mayport and we are in the middle of wedding plans for his 22 yr. old sister's wedding in November. We live in Atlanta GA
I also need help finding a place to live! I'm moving there sometime this summer, after my fiance(soon to be husband!) moves there. He has just finished A school and is coming hoe for 10 days(for our wedding :)) and then is going to NS Mayport. I would like to move there fairly soon because he leaves for deployment in October and some time together as newlyweds would be nice. Any help is appreciated!!
Hi everyone, my husband is based at Mayport, Florida and I will be moving down there very soon. Also need help finding a place. Is it better to live on base or off base? Please help, I'm so lost....... Thanks.
