Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Base housing
My son is trying to decide between base housing or living off base. He has heard some negative about the base housing, but knows it would be much more convenient than living off base. Any one have info on base housing and the quality of it?

What location are you talking about, and is your son married? Some base housing is only available to married sailors.

He is in Goose Creek and is not married. He will likely ask a friend or two to roommate.

My son and his family(he's married with one and one on the way) and though the places are older most have been remodeled...really, they don't have a lot of down time so for them it's convenient and seems fine. It all depends on the individual ...I kinda think being on the base makes them less likely to get into trouble.
He can always ask someone to go check out their housing and see if he would like it...when did he start? -

He's been there nearly a year and is finishing up power school in a couple of weeks. He knows he will be on hold for at least 8 weeks before prototype, but he likes to plan things ahead of time, so I told him I would ask on here. He's one of the older ones there (25) and is not likely to get into trouble.
