My sailor flew home from SC to get my DIL. He was on an American Airlines flight and was in uniform. He was boarded first, then when all passengers were seated and the plane was getting ready to leave, the attendant came to my son and whispered to him to go to the front of the plane. My son thought something was wrong so he just sat there and she told him again to move to the front of the plane. When he stood, she said, we'd like to thank you for your service, please take a seat in first class.

Marion, let's just hope that it was that specific representative. Being from Minnesota, we've always been Northwest fliers. But we have noticed changes since it became Delta.

Wow! And I usually really like Delta. I know I flew into Charleston this weekend on Continental and they always ask for Military first (in uniform or not). And there were some Army personnel on another flight (American Airlines) a few months ago in uniform coming home from Afghanistan/Iraq. When we landed the flight attendant made sure they got off first before any other passengers moved and they got a standing ovation on the way out. It was really touching.

Alese - look at the group care packages. There is a cute idea a mom shared - she made a 6 inch round brownie and then put 8 cupcakes around it. She bought a round container from Michael's that had a clear plastic lid. Take a look at the site. It was very ingenious. Also - I used bake a wish for my son's birthday. He was in power school. Said the cake was really goo. You might want to check out their site also.

Alese,
There was a place called Simply Delicious but it has gone out of business. Haven't read about any others, sorry. My son had to make do with a phone call and text from us but he went out with friends and had a nice dinner.

joseph's - i know it can depend on his rate. we are staying here and matt's an MM. apparently of the four pages of students in the entire class, three are going to NY. they can start prototype quicker (maybe) so a lot of people volunteered for it. apparently, ET's and EM's have a better chance of going to NY. But I don't think it's a here on out type thing - though I could be wrong because you're right - it costs them more money to send families.

Does anyone have a loved one in class 1037? I tried to add it above, but for some reason, it wouldn't let me!

TN Navy Mom...I know what you mean about the TMI son. My son was like that, too. Now I have to exist on so little communication. He has been a little better in the last two weeks. Congratulations on your son, Darla! As for the wives, it's so good that you have eachother to bond with. I'm sure many of your relationships will last a lifetime now that there are computers and so many ways to stay in touch while you travel all over.
