ruthrod- his SLPO should be helpful in determining if it's just transitional problems or if nuke school isn't for him. and if his SLPO isn't helping at all (some can be cold and not empathetic at all) then find another SLPO. Especially after all the tragic events lately, someone will be on hand to help him.

I just learned of this this morning. How devastating for their families! My thoughts & prayers are with them & all of our sailors affected by this tragedy.

My boyfriend told me about them. He doesn't know who they were. One was an indoc and it happened Wednesday morning. The other was friday but I'm not sure what class he was in, also in the morning. Some of the sailors are pretty torn up about it, especially since it was 2 suicides in a row.

Laurilyn, Do you have more information to share. This is very disturbing news. My prayers are very much with these families. So very sad news.

Rosie--I would have your fiance check to see when he starts Prototype..my hubby graduates in Sept from prototype..so that means the next class would start in Nov. You would still be able to get married that weekend (first 7 weeks of prototype they work around 7:30am-7:30pm and have weekends off..they get off early on fridays) Are you getting married in SC or elsewhere? I haven't heard of anyone in prototype being able to take leave. And I wouldn't bet anything about getting extended leaves until you see it on paper. We've had lots of friends been told they'll get two months off..then the navy turns around and tells them a week before that they start next week (so they actually got less than a month!)

Hi all... need some help please.. coming to visit my son and need a hotel that is good and help would be appreciated thank you

Rosie--it depends on what part of schooling he's in..if he's in prototype and on shift work..if he doesn't have that weekend off on his set schedule, there's no way he can get it off! It's usually a lot easier to get time off during A school and sometimes power school. If he's on hold, that's even easier! Holidays are never guaranteed. My hubby had to go in on two holidays before..and that was during A or Power school!
