Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Casey and Sumi- My bf heard about that before he enlisted and is totally going to do it. I think he said something about being in international waters, not necessarily a specific location for "tax free zone"

well i'm moving to goose creek from southen california...i wonder how much i would get for the DITY... i dont know if i could afford to front thousands of dollars for the move
Comment by Ashia on May 18, 2010 at 12:49pm
My neighbor across the st was saying how they got about 15,000 for their move, ad only needed like 8,000. They came from Washington State. I'll have to ask her what she did!

I'd always heard that you MAKE a ton of money on a dity move.. I'll bet Fleet and Family knows something.. And that's interested about the microchips. I'd never heard that, and they never asked about one for Bella..

i called the vet and an employee said that if you live on base it is a requirement to have your cat or dog microchipped. and that there isnt't a military specific chip, i can be any kind you want as long as the military gets the information ie. the company, id # and type/breed of animal

Casey- i think it was hope that said DITY policies had changed... i was wondering about that also since i am trying to learn more about it. i still havent heard from my husband on this subject. so i dont know what we ae doing.

Catie- Microchipped eh? i was planning on doing that this week after she gets home from the groomer. just in case she tried to run away back to california (like that movie homeward bound) thanks for the link i will be sure to contact the vet and find out more on chipping her.

@desertordessert~ that sounds like a very good idea to call a vet on base..they of all people should know how that works..i just dont want to break any rules... i'm pretty sure we will be getting a place right away since there is no wait list.
i absolutly treat her as one of the family..i inherited her when i married my husband lol. i would be heart broken if i had to leave her behind. it would almost be like leaving my son.(crazy i know but thats how i feel about her) i love her and she is a great dog, house trained and fabulous with the baby(he's only 2)
