My son will be headed to Nuke school next week after he graduates boot camp. We want to come visit him (and bring him some of his things) during our fall break (Oct) and I have found some info on if he will be able to visit with us while we are there. Can anyone give me any info? Really would like to book a place to stay asap, but do not want to make that trip if we wont be able to see him.
TessaNator, that is not true however it depends on what stage they are in and what time of year. In general, they get two weeks leave after finishing A school, however my son did not because his grad so closely following the holiday (xmas stand down.) My son, almost done with A school, was able to come home for two weeks at Christmas. However, this is not always ideal as they had to return to only two weeks of study before final comps and this can have a detrimental effect on their grades. Following Power School, they get 10 days leave, but during this time they need to get moved into an apartment in Charleston or Balston Spa, NY. If moving to NY they need to include travel time into that 10 days (weekends count) so it may not be a time when they can come home. All of this is subject to change however, based on needs/whims of the Navy!
Hi, I just read your Nuke cannot go on leave until he graduates Nuke school. I was under the impression he could come home for Christmas. Can anyone verify this?
Welcome NavyMom7102! Be sure to join our nuke moms group.....it's more active than this page. Look 3 posts down and I have the link!
MissyBo - come on over to the nuke moms page and post your question there - you'll probably get more responses as this group isn't very active.
Does anyone have the specifics on A school Grad June 2017?
Here's the link to the NukeMoms group for anyone who hasn't joined yet:
Hello ladies - you'll find the Nuke Moms page is more active and will probably get answers faster over there.
As far as passing - they comp (take their final test) the week of graduation - if I remember right for A school it's on Monday and graduation is always Friday. Your sailor would be able to let you know the day of the test.
