@Rosie: Sweet!!! We are on Houston now instead of Lafayette. I've been here a week and still setting everything up before we leave for Christmas break. Is your husband an ET, EM or MM?

I'm in Goose Creek now! I went by where we will be living and I LOVE IT! I can't wait for Saturday! Sat with a great group of sailors while eating dinner with Ben.

Hi! My husband just graduated from bootcamp and arrived at Goose Creek Wednesday. He also picked out our house today and we will be moving in 11/27! Are the houses on Lafayette St. part of the new/renovated?

I was hoping that someone could suggest a hair salon in the area. I got my hair cut at the NEX b/c I figured it would be super cheap. It was...I'm just convinced it is a little uneven so i'd rather not get highlights done there. Any recommendations? Or places that I shouldn't go...anything to help narrow the choices down. Thanks!!

Any opinions out there on pediatric primary care providers at NWSC?

I'd like to pick one that it more health promotion, than intervention based, or at least won't think I'm crazy for being naturally minded. Any thoughts?

Thanks! It turns out the Allied estimate was wayyy over our budget, over $1,000 more then they Navy would give us for reimbursement. I found another company around here who specializes in military moves so they are coming for an estimate on Monday. I'm hoping they can move us by Thursday since my husband can get leave to come help Wednesday afternoon.

I think I'm going to look for a company to help pack up our stuff in a truck and move us, would make it less stressful. I'm going to be looking around today. If you find any good companies let me know!

Yeah that's what I was told. I we are going to do a DITY move. I luckily have a lot of family around to help me, and we might even just hire movers to help us. Either way I am getting to my husband as soon as possible!
He has an in doc meeting today, so he should be getting information about when he picks out a house, when he can get leave to come help with the move, etc. I can't wait! I'm ready to get out of here and start our new life in Charleston!

You can move as soon as they give him leave and housing.... however if you want the navy to move your stuff it can take a very long time for them to pack your stuff and then get it to you in your new home.

NidDAlouette - my husband just had PIR this past Friday, he leaves for Charleston tomorrow :) I am so excited!
Looks like we are going to have to do a DITY move though, I called a number for information about moving my husband gave me, and the guy I spoke with said once my husband gets housing it will take the Navy movers about 3 weeks to even get to us to pack up and move our stuff - which our lease here is up on Oct 31st, so it will be too late by then! Luckily we don't have too much stuff to move, so it shouldn't be too bad hopefully!
