My son is currently in 17.  I would love to connect with anyone else with a loved one in that class.

Hi MJoe, congrats on your  LO. If you are on facebook looks for officer training command newport. they post pictures of the classes aand you might get a glimpe of your LO. I is like playing finding waldo. There should also be a facebook page for the class something like navy ocs class 17-18 friends & family.  My son was commissioned in 9/2015 and I still interact with those I meet during his time at OCS.  What will be your son next step after OCS. Mine went to NUPOC ( nuke training) after 2 yrs of school he has been in the fleet for 1 year.  He is currently on his 2nd deployment a sub.

My son is on a similar course of action as your son - NUPOC subs.  Graduated with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering, with an emphasis in Aero rather than Astro.  I keep looking to find a photo to play where's waldo to get a glimpse of him.  Thanks for sharing and replying on this post.

Mine received his BS in mech engineering with a minor in material science.  He said nuke school was for him a bit easier with his schooling background. It still is a lot of info to learn and then show that you learnt it with your boards.  By the time he gets to SOBC ( sub officer basic training) in Groton most say it is a 2 month vacation before they head out to the duty station.

Hi,

My son is also in 17-18C. He started on July 1.

Yesterday, another parent sent me the following two Facebook groups for this class:

US Navy OCS Class17-18 Family & Friends

Friends and Family of Navy OCS Class 17-18 (July 1, 2018)

Both seem like a good way to connect with other families going through the weeks ahead.

Great!  I will have to look for them!

And hello fellow 17-18 parent!

My son has his BS in Supply Chain and Logistics Management.

My son is in class 17-18 C. He has been working as an aerospace engineer for the last four years at a major company. Suddenly decided he wanted to fly, so that is why he pursued Navy OCS as a Naval Aviator.  Have received three letters from him so far but no phone call yet.

They have to sign up for the pay phone to call and the get like a 15 min slot. Mine only called once but he once he pass RLP he then was able to email me with the email address they get. Their cell phone were returned like week 8 or 9. I think I only received one letter from my LO he is not much of a rider. He is now on his 2nd underway and no news is good news it has been over 2 weeks since his last email form the sub.
