For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

The Hi Moms may have a limit, yu need to chaeck with your LO PIR is open to all and is very casual. My son's was in Aug and there were people there in shorts and tank tops. Most wore jeans and casual clothes. Hi Mom's cocktail style men some wore suits or sport jackets tie/no tie graduation was business attire type clothes. I and another mom aonnected and became friends on FB showed up wearing the same thing! Capris, shell and sweater set! Hop this helps.

My nephew is in class 05-12. He started Oct 9, 2011; we don't have a graduation date yet. He will be in OCS over the Christmas break. I'm told training shuts down the Friday before Christmas and starts up again the Monday after New Years. Can anyone confirm this? Also, does the Navy or OS send a graduation information packet? I'm way out west and would like to fly back; how much time will I have to book a flight? I'm assuming we can stay at the Navy Lodge on base. Besides the "Hi Moms" reception the night before graduation, are they any other events? How long should I plan on staying? Since we'll be there in January I'm going to assume any sight seeing will be out of the question. I know, I have lot's of questions. I've joined the Facebook group but no answers to questions yet. Please help! :)

Our son is in Class 03-12 so I do not know how OCS will handle Christmas Break. Re: graduation, what we have learned is that first "event" is PIR (Pass in Review) early Thursday afternoon. Thursday evening is "Hi Moms" which is usually a cocktail reception early evening (it may be a dinner with some classes). Friday 5 AM is Victory Run, and then formal graduation ceremonies are early morning. Since we have not experienced this yet, I cannot guarantee this info is 100% correct. Hope this gives you some idea of graduation events.

The last couple of years OCS has posted official holiday stand down dates on their homepage. Here is the link: http://www.ocs.navy.mil/index.asp
No dates as of today, but you chould check every so often. That site is also a good source of information about OCS as well.
