How would we know if a son/daughter had to roll into H class? I have read some of the posts below about how/when/why you can be rolled, but how would we find this out?

We found out when our daughter called us.  Usually when it happens, they are allowed a phone call to let family know.

Thank you. I am anxious for any news of anything going on.

this is one of those cases when no news is good news. When my son was at OCS he said the ones that rolled do get to call home. My first phone call was after he passed RLP ( room, locker and personnel  inspection. One of the best days as it came through on the 4th of July and i was home. He did send an email prior to give me a heads up that he would be calling between a certain time but i did not read my email beforehand. ( this is when they also get email too)

This is good information, thanks! When is RLP, about 3-4 weeks in?

I've been told no news is good news as far as rolling
If a LOL rolls then they are allowed to make a phone call to let you know.
Always remember, no news is good news
Fast Cruise (the first major rollable event)occurs Friday of the 2nd week--thus Fri for yours. If he rolls, he will be in good company. Lots do.

RLP occurs Thursday morning of the 3rd week. They have a chance to repeat it Friday AM. The last class had 8 that did not pass Thu and they all helped to get 6 more through on Friday. Good teamwork. If you are a praying mom, pray for this Fri and next Thu.

I am definitely a praying mom and this information is so helpful. Thank you LucyJo and to everyone who has replied.

They go into the "H" Company or Holding Company. They move back 3 wks for potential graduation, but I don't believe they need to redo previous accomplishments--so they go into holding until they are ready to repeat. You can get more info from your family FB group as several in the group have LOs who have experienced it.

Thanks LucyJo. This makes sense.

Please allow me one more question on this thread. I am so new to all this! If they roll out in, say, week 2 due to Fast Cruise, do they roll back into the next class where they left off? Or do they roll all the way back to the beginning? I understand rolling into this H-class thing, but I don't get how they get back into a class. Can someone please explain?

They will officially go into the next class. If they are in 08-17, they will go into the 09-17 class but will not repeat medical, uniforms, events they already passed (like initial physical assessment, etc.) and will go to holding during that. I think they do jobs during holding. Then they pick up with the new class wherever they need to repeat. It just puts them back 3 wks total. The good thing is they all work to get them through.
