Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by egbot on May 16, 2010 at 7:11pm: quick question... it's anticipated that my LO will graduate OCS the first or second weekend in August. That's peak tourist season in Newport. Do any of you recommend making the hotel reservations now instead of waiting? I'm a bit concerned we won't get a hotel! Or... is there lodging on base for families of graduates?

My son just started OCS on May 9th and it hasn't quite been a week yet and I think about him every day and have already written 4 letters to him! You may want to start a group as I did, specifically for moms/mates of 19-10 which should be his class, since my son's is 18-10! Good luck and pay attention to what the women say on this site. The information is invaluable and has helped me so much along the way.

Comment by snowmc on May 14, 2010 at 10:03pm: My son graduated BSU on December 18th and started OCS on January 3rd. THOSE WERE THE LONGEST 3 MONTHS OF MY LIFE!!!! But they will end and life will take a new turn and OCS will seem like it was a life time ago. Hang in there and rely on the members of your class and those of us from prior classes to make it through. You will and so will your son.

Comment by madre37 on May 13, 2010 at 6:34am: Welcome Emily. My son enlisted and been in almost ten years. It really depends what package he goes for. My son in supply so he prepared package. His second try he got selected. He went to college while he was in the Navy and after a lot of hard work, the board selected for OCS Amen!!!

I was worried that people would frown if I had a baby that may make a little noise here and there :) I'm sure he won't be the only one. Now if he starts to really fuss I'll have to step out, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that won't happen. So looking forward to it!! Thanks again!
