For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I truly admire you Mom's who have more than one child in the service. The strength and tenacity you must have. Thank you for being there for us "newbies". Your words of "survival" and encouragement are very much appreciated. I don't think I could do this without you. God bless!

My daughter left Nashville MEPS on Monday the 4th. She said she was the only girl and 3 other guys. Sounds like they should all be graduating together. My recruiter told me that her ship was 07. But others were telling me not to believe it till I actually get the "form letter" (We were originally from Pennsylvania)

My daughter left for bootcamp on October 6th as well. Actually got 2 calls. One when she landed in Chicago and another call around 1AM saying she was at the RTC and might be able to call again in 2 or 3 weeks. Both calls lasted about 10 seconds each but it was wonderful just to hear her voice. I'm very proud of her but this not being able to talk to her is going to be extremely hard on me. How can I offer encouraging words to her after she has had a tough day if I can't even speak to her? I've already written 2 letters, bought 4 cards, and started a "goodie" box list so I can mail it to her right after boot camp.

absolutely nothing... sorry! in fact, anything you send will be taken away (they might not even see it)
even sending "singing cards" can be a problem (one division had to do pushups until the battery died when one recruit received one of those cards)
For things like pictures and newspaper articles, I remember it was recommended that it was better to just print on regular paper paper and include as a letter - regular sized envelope (and avoid colored envelopes)
Of course, every division is different, and sometimes you have to wonder if they really are as picky about these things or if it's just to scare us moms into compliance - but definitely, no "things" that aren't just paper - no treats...

Ok. Thanks for the info. I certainly would not want to do anything to get him or his unit into trouble. so we can send goodies once they get to A School? If so, what kinds of things can they get?

My daughter also arrived at BOOT CAMP Oct 6th from San Diego CA ...She is going to school in Pensacola , FL also... I miss her soooooooo much already ... this is very hard ... I am just waiting for the box to come and the 1st letter... I cant wait ! My son also leaves for BC next month Nov 21st ... he will also be going to school in FL ...
