The box came today while the recruiter was here. He was meeting with my youngest and the Fedex van pulled in, he said there is your box.

I also got her address. I sent her a letter right from work.

I haven't got a box or an address yet....buggers.  Well it'll come soon right?  We live in Fort Wayne, IN it shouldn't take too long to get here from Chicago - maybe they sent it by government mule.

Can you go into the recruiting office? Or maybe call the recruiter?  That's exactly what I did.  My daughter reported to boot camp last tuesday, exactly 7 days ago. I figured that she would be done with her processing and have her permanent address now... I was right, came home with it.
My sons box came today.  I hope the letter comes tomorrow.  The box came FedEx.
My kid in the box came today.  I cried.  I didn't think it had come because I was expecting it to come via the US Mail and when I checked the mail there was no box there.  But then I thought maybe it came and was sitting outside my front door so I checked and there it was.  I cried when opening it and it had the clothes he was wearing and his cell phone in it.  Now I just want to get that letter with his address.
I know how you're feeling.  I can't help but cry sometimes...I know they're not really gone like dead and gone but it sure does feel like it.  On the up side every day it does get better.  I heard that song "Feelin' Stronger Every Day" by Chicago (classic song) and it really made me smile, give it a try!
I actually saw somewhere on here a few days ago that it is similar to grieving like a death because the relationship we had with our kids is gone in the effect that they are no longer children and now becoming adults and the relationship is changing they will not be the same when we see them again.
Hang in there ladies, you are correct - its a bit of a grieving process, and those in your life who do not have kids in the military might not understand that.  Some might say "I know how you feel, my kid left for college" - but it's not nearly the same.
My son left on Oct 6 he is on ship 09 div 016.
