My son left yesterday. I went to MEPS with him to see him off, he was very nervouse. His brother went too, he is leaving Feb 16th or sooner if he can. I got my call last night to say he was ok and could call in 2weeks and would write in 3...

I remember the count down... I told my son he could have whatever he wanted to eat the last two weeks, any snacks he wanted I bought. We did a lot of dining out too and a special dinner last Sunday to ANY restraunt he wanted. I am so glad I did that and he felt special. My daughters and I made him brownies and cupcakes and special things!

Keep in touch...It is hard when they go, I know now...

Hugs to all the mom's with their kids leaving for boot camp! We are here for you!!! Navymom2011 buckle up and hang on!!! Your rollercoaster ride is just getting started! But it is so very exciting at times! What's your son going to do in the Navy? My son is a Corpsman.  He's been in almost 2 years now and it's still a very emotional ride!  Hang in there moms and keep yourselves busy! Let us know if there is anything we can do to help!

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} <--cyber hugs! lol!!!

My family is very proud and excited for our son's new journey! We are not a military family, so we are learning every day!! He will be going to sub school after basic!! He is going for either sonar technician or fire control...its all in the electronics field ((I think))!!
I am letting him have his space...trying to not be a mom right now, just a friend! Basically, whatever he wants to do, eat, see, etc., he is doing!!
thanks so much for your reply!! I ready this site every day!! It really does help!

Navymom - My son leaves 10/23 as well!!! I did really good till yesterday now that its just 2 weeks the kleenex has to come out!! I don't know how much time you have spent on this site, but it has been a great source of knowledge and help the last month or more!!  Best wishes and lets keep in touch!

I read this site constantly it seems! It really does help!! I've tried to keep my tears to a minimum, but it hasn't worked so well!! Last nite I kept thinking, this is it....in two weeks, he will never sleep in his bed again nite after nite, I wont stay up until he gets home from his dates and nites out with friends....no more clothes to pick up or socks to wash! Crazy stuff!! But, then I think about the man he is becoming...I know how much he wants this and he's so ready to go and be a part of the Navy...his time has come...its the mama in me that isn't ready for him to go! We are having a party this weekend for him......cornhole, a cookout and a dj...I am hoping i can get through the nite without tears....we have already talked about letter writing and the holidays...we are having thanksgiving this Sunday nite with all of the family since he will miss it....i really want to put my tree up for Christmas before he leaves, just in case he doesnt get to come home...alot of emotions, but most of all VERY proud of his decision and commitment that he has made!
Big hugs to both you and your sailor!!!

My son was scheduled to leave today, we dropped him off at recruiters office, he made it to the hotel to learn they had the wrong ship date on his paperwork.  Now he is back home for 2 weeks, new date is the 27th.  It was hard droppping him off today, lots of tears.  He told me next time he was driving himself and we could pick up his truck later. I think it was harder on him having us there.  Im happy I have him for 2 more weeks.
