Well he left from Louisville on Wedeesday At 4 and I got my almost 30 second scripted call at just about 8 pm. I could tell he was stressed, and I knew what to say, I just didn't expect the call so early.
I told him I loved him and was proud of him, and boom he was gone, I checked my Verizon bill and there was one call after he called home. Looked like he let someone use his phone.

Since he's my baby, it was hard to see him go, but I know how much he wanted to enlist and that it is the best thing for him.

What recruiter's office did your son sign up at?  My son is a recruiter out of Middletown and takes recruits to Louisville all the time.

It will go by fast and graduation is awesome so make sure you attend.  Just be sure to write to him and remember to NOT send him any packages.

Good Luck

Peggy

He went thru the Dent station.  Just off I-74 in Western Hills/Bridgetown area. The recruiters there were great.

I was warned and told that only white envelopes, nothing silly and no packages...  I started writing a letter wednesday night after his call.  On the style of our typical conversations and things I know he would be interested in knowing.  Kind of a journal type for the first one.

Can't wait for graduation, since hubby is former Navy,  he's excited to go and see the changes since 1974. I know how important it will be for us to be there.

I certainly hope the next 8 weeks go as fast as the past 9 have gone, since we learned his ship date.  I was so bored last night home alone.  Hubby at work, oldest son out on date.... we've been so busy going and doing before AJ left for BC....

Thanx!

I understand completely, my son was also my youngest child and only boy. I feel it was an excellent choice for him, but I dont have to explain to you how we Moms feel, its a combination of extreme pride, mixed with OMG thats by baby! I got the call, then the box.  Its really nice  knowing what to expect. Thank goodness our sons are done with P days and starting the process, whether they are in the same divisions or not. Take Care! My sons DIV is 326
