Debbie,
If you go to the Naval Training Center website (and I'm sorry I don't remember the web address but you should find it on the form letter you were sent) there is a link where you can email questions to. I did this a year ago just before my daughter's PIR. They answered me back the following day. Anyway if you ask them - there may be an exception to the receiving mail rule IF they know it is for something like a bible. I know they are allowed items like that. But again, I'm not sure - depending on the size - it may still be larger than what they allow. And the reason for that would be the limited storage all recruits have, added to the fact that when they leave BC they have to pack everything they own, including ALL their uniforms into their seabag and their garment bag. (Unless they do like my daughter did and buy an additional small suitcase at the NEX!!!) But it wouldn't hurt to check out the website and ask someone before you send it! Hope this helps,
Anna

Anita,

I am not sure how far you are from us. We live in Piketon. But our GPS says it is around a 6 hour drive to Great Lakes. Driving might be cheaper than 3 airline tickets.
