Welcome Carol,
I just met a mom today who has a son in Goose Creek also. Her name is Norene. (I need to double check that spelling so you can look her up).
I wonder if upstate NY can be any worse than NE Ohio!!!!

Brenda, maybe you should leave today while the weather isn't quite so bad and camp out at the airport until tomorrow when it will be even nastier. Of course from Toledo you are used to this weather! Looks pretty but...another day at home. Have a safe trip and your son will be in our prayers.

I am officially tired of this winter weather now. Since Friday was above freezing alot of snow melted. Then Saturday morning we're back in the teens and light snow falling - which covered up a large sheet of ice that I then slipped and fell on!!! All I could do is lay there in the snow for awhile until the pain stopped long enough for me to move. Luckily, my husband was with me. Boy - am I sore!! When is spring?!?!?!

Cynthia, sorry I didn't respond to your comment earlier. I will keep your son and your family in my prayers. I know what it's like to have your sailor on deployment. My son did two deployments in the Gulf on the Geo Washington and the Enterprise. I asked my son to send me an email every other day at least so I knew he was OK. Even if it was just a sentence or two. Even if he doesn't have his own computer there should be computers on the ship he can use. Tell him "thank you; safe travels and come home soon" from me - a proud Navy Mom.

God, isn't that so true - we do such a good job preparing them and sending them off but then we're left behind. I hated it when my daughter went to bootcamp. She had no problems being in bootcamp - kept busy and the time flew by for her. I am very close to all my kids especially my two daughters (they are my twin babies and we did tons of stuff together through the years). I remind myself that she is enjoying what she is doing and experiencing being on her own - I still want her to be my little girl that needs me!!! She's like - Mom I've got to go - - things to do - people to see. I chuckle but I still miss her!!:) I think your son will find that time will go fast for him also. It's good that they are kept busy so much - they don't have much time to think about home. But for us it's not the same - we think ALL the time about what (or who) we're missing!!! Just remember - it won't be like that forever :)
