The family cruise is put on by the ship and they don't do it very often I don't think. He was on 2 different for 5 years in Norfolk and they only did it once but they were on a lot of deployments also. I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Stay in touch with NFM. That is the only thing that got me through bootcamp. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask.

How exciting CindyD!!! The travel sounds wonderful-I am curious to hear how the family cruise works and when/if that is offered to only certain sailors?!?! Sounds cool! My son graduated HS last Sun and is scheduled to leave for bootcamp Oct. 27.

Mine just graduated high school on the 23rd and will go to MEPS in the morning for his physical and to pick his rate and swear in. We will know then what his ship date will be. I am keeping my fingers crossed he gets the rate he wants.

There are a few of us in the area and we have got together a couple times. Keep an eye on the facebook page. My son has been in for 6 years and they say to join the Navy to see the world and that he has! He has been all over Russia and all the countries around there, Caribbean, Panama, Guantanamo Bay, Rome, Italy, he has been to the Vatican, Africa and many more in between and he is now stationed in Bahrain. I have done a family cruise on his ship and my husband and my dad did a tiger cruise where they boarded his ship in FL on the way back from a deployment and rode on the ship back to Norfolk, VA, it took a few days. Tell me about your sailor. I think you said they are just going in but I am not seeing below now.
