My son is currently at GL for basic and after graduation 3-2-12 he will be going to OS school. Any helpful ideas on where he will likely be going for school will be greatly appreciated. His recruiters thought he would stay there at GL.
Rita: My Daughter will be following right behind your son to A school she PIR's 1/13 then A school in GL I also just found this site.
Kathy: too funny but that does just about sums up a os lol
Thank you Kathy. I love the analogy from Galaxy Quest...sounds just like my son. He should fit right in...he definately is a computer "geek". I will remember not to ask too many questions.
My son just graduated BC and will be attending A school in GL in Jan. I believe he said it lasts 8 weeks, but not sure. I just found this group and it's nice to see what kind of work he'll be doing.
I never heard of a Tiger Cruise before - what is that? My son graduated boot camp in mid August and went out to Pearl Harbor on Veteran's Day. So I am new at this.
FWIW: I just got back from a 2 day Tiger Cruise with my son at the end of a 7 month deployment (his first), I met a bunch of OS's, got to spend time in "combat" watching them work, stayed in the same berthing, watched them interact, live together, play together, eat together . . . an amazing bunch of sailors! To say I was impressed with them as individuals, as sailors AND in the way the Navy trained them to do their jobs is an enormous understatement. Whether your sailor is already an OS or on the way to being one, you should be proud, I am!
Angeltoe - I am trying to remember who long A school was for OS. I am thinking from 6-9 weeks. My son started shortly after boot camp (did not get a leave before he started) which was in May and finished in July when he got about a 10 day leave before reporting to MayPort for deployment.
Hi,
My son graduates 12/29 from BC then goes to A school for OS , can anyone tell me how long the school is?
