My son is in Great Lakes for A school. He will be done the end of June. Hopefully. Than he will come home for 2 weeks. Again I hope. Than off to San Diego. Which is 2 hours away from home. I will not make any plans until he calls and says hes on his way home. In the Navy this is how it will be from now on:)

Hello jdmom:  Good to hear from you.  Yes, I have heard from my son and he has started his school.  He moved into another ship and has all new roomies.  I think he started on Tuesday and already has a test this coming Monday.  Is your son in the same class?  How does he like it so far?

cms, I haven't been able to send emails from this site and not sure if I can get them.

I was texting with my son and he said they started classes the other day. Have you had any word from your son?

Thanks so much for sharing.  You must be so proud of her.  She loves what she is doing, what more could you ask for.

Ken:  Thanks for sharing your son's experience.  I know my son is looking forward to that 2 week leave after A school BUT I guess it is not a guarantee.

jdmom: Hopefully there will be more from this weeks PIR but if not>>more cleaning for them!

Ken thanks for the run down on how it went for your son, I keep trying to tell my hubby not to count on the 2 weeks after A school, Ma Navy may change her mind.

CMS my son said they needed 8 more so it looks like it will be pushed back at least another week depending on how many were in this weeks PIR.  More cleaning for them I suppose!

@CMS  His PIR was 2/18/11, finished A-school in Great Lakes (BTW: check out Great Lakes TSC's FaceBook page if you haven't already) in late April/early May. He was scheduled for a 2 week leave after A-school but his ship was deploying and his Chief suggested that he might want to report early instead of hanging around waiting to connect somewhere. I drove him down to Norfolk the second week of May and he's a couple weeks into this 7 month long deployment. Sounds like they are treating him very well and he is learning a lot. Needless to say, I'm super proud of him!  ;-)

jdmom:  I think he said he met 3 0r 4 that were OS.  Do you know how many make up a class?
