I thought he would be on the list once he has firm orders?  Unless they changed things? Did he call them, or did you?  Sometimes the military member gets better responses.  (frustrating but true).  Does he have a sponsor who can help check on this?  He SHOULD have a sponsor who knows how it works for the married members.

You do get money to stay in temporary lodging.  I want to say ten days, but it may be longer.

hoping someone can shed light on this cause im kinda confused! The housing office said we wont be put on the list for military housing untill my husband reports there. That will be in about a month. I was hoping to get down there before or jsut go down when he reports since thats his leave. I realllllly dont want to have my waiting period start when he reports. Is this true???? I then heard if theres no housing availiable we may be able to stay at a hotel for a certain number of days? I know this is confusing lol im confusing myself just writing it

I found out they arent using the term DITY move anymore.. it is now called a PPM 'personally procedured move'

A DITY is where you pack and drive your goods yourself.  You have to follow guidelines, such as weighing your truck empty and full.  Technically, if you're good at it, you can keep any "extra" you save.  But it is hard work.

A "regular" move is when a professional moving company is hired by the Navy to come to your home and they pack, ship, and unpack everything for you.  You only have to worry about supervising and signing the paperwork, getting where you're going, and not letting them packout stuff like your purse.

Just wanted to throw out a happy note -- For those of you doing DITY moves, we just did one middle of May and although it was a lot of work it was all worthwhile as we just got reimbursed today!  Was really glad we DITY'd this time, not sure if we will again, we will see what our circumstances are for our next move, but this one did work out very well for us, so good luck with all your DITY's out there!
