You may want to look at the links in the second discussion above, too, and this DITY guide - http://www.military.com/money/pcs-dity-move

The DITY move gives you 85% up front, the rest comes later. To have them pack you out, and trust me THEY do the packing, you (or possibly your sailor) have to contact Personal Property Office and ask how they want you to do it. I think it is online these days, I'm only familiar with going in and making the appointment.

Trace, if you need anything, let me know I just moved less than a month ago and still have it all fresh in my mind.

Trace its a choice. Whether they will move you or you can move your self. Except for over sea trips I believe.

I have plenty of crafty friends who sell on Etsy.com. You can set up a little shop online, although I don't know how much the fees are.

I used craigslist.org, and indeed.com for my jobs.

I just met a quilt designer, she also teaches at a Bernina store. Perhaps that or a Jo Anne's store?
My other thought is to offer your computer skills to Realtors. There are many who could use someone to put together open-house flyers and e-flyers for them (super-easy). You can do it from home, charge per each, works out to pretty good $/hour.

I quilt already so that keeps my busy, just looking to get out of the house every so often...
