How long was his A school? And what is his rating if you don't mind me asking?

I moved to be with my husband when he was in a school. We got married while he was in A school and then I moved to be with him.

Are there any girlfriends/wives out there who have moved to be with their sailors during their A school?

The Navy just released a new Deployment Support Handbook that includes checklists for Sailors as well as a ton of information about navigating deployments. You can download the handbook here:  http://www.cnic.navy.mil/content/dam/cnic/hq/pdfs/n91_fleet_and_fam...  Thanks Beachmom76 for this!

Perhaps. We arranged our move through Ft Sam though which is an army base. Our paperwork has a description of what's needed for each branch and the army base was able to arrange our move from IA to VA.

Maybe because the move was from Camp Lejeune and so a Marine checklist even though it was a Navy corpsman PCSing.  It'll get sorted out, just another step...or three... Thanks so much!

I believe the navy is the only branch that requires three weight tickets. It's on the paperwork we got from the personnel property office before we moved. It says you have to provide a written explanation if you don't have three but I'm sure they can refuse to pay you if they want to.

Hey it's you!  Thanks for the answer. The checklist we have doesn't mention destination, only point of origin.  Grr!  Too late now  :)

Comment by wigglyturtle on September 29, 2015 at 1:01am
We haven't turned in all our paperwork yet, but yes, you need an empty at origin, a full at origin, and a full at destination.

Quick question for anyone who has completed a DITY move with a truck or trailer: have you been required to provide proof of full weight obtained at your DESTINATION in addition to getting the empty-and-full weight tickets at point of origin? Thanks in advance!
