HI everyone!

I know I'm probably way to early to be asking questions, but I can't help trying to be over prepared when it comes to the unknown. My husband is nearing the end of C school (July) we are hoping to go to Japan, but of course we will not know til the very end. I am just curious about moving. Is there anything I can do before I know his orders. Any information I can read? I know I have to talk to transportation, I just would like some info. Also, We are having our Wedding in our hometown in September. Will they move him in July and still move me in September? Any suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated!

Good to know about! The Navy New Spouse Orientation course.

"Online training provides information on benefits, support services, military culture and resources to help Navy spouses adapt to the military lifestyle.

The New Spouse Orientation training should be at the top of any new spouse's to do list."

Hi group!

Anybody ever been stationed in Meridian, MS? Just trying to figure out how a PCS works since this will be our first. Thanks!

The food and lodging reimbursement is DLA, the dislocation allowance.  Did he request that?

Great Lakes is where we'll be for the next few months!

KEB, welcome to the group!  Sounds like you have your hands full!  Where are you headed for IC "A" school?  For moving tips, please take a look through the Discussions above, there is a lot of great info to be found there  :)

My husband is an IC and will be in A school for the next 5-6 months... could be longer with holds/more schooling.

We'll be paying for the move on our own since we're not staying long enough for the Navy to move us.

We're blindly looking for apartments in the area. We have a child and a baby on the way. We need a 2-3 bedroom one in a nice area. Hopefully under $1,100/month.

Any suggestions?

Any moving tips? This is our first time.

Whitney, you may have posted this info before but I just came upon it -

The spouse-to-spouse mentoring program COMPASS - "A course for Navy life."  It's one of the services offered by Naval Services FamilyLine.

"COMPASS offers military spouses the opportunity to establish a peer network, acquire knowledge and develop skills necessary to successfully meet future challenges of military life."  Link:  http://www.gocompass.org
