My sailor is now on deployment. The bad news is the sailor who is responsible for clearances did not process my son's or another sailor who has qualifed QM, so both of them cannot stand watch for QM! They were both very dissapointed that they will have to stand watch on the lower ranking stations. That also leaves them short of people who can stand watch at QM. I don't understand that kind of a slip being tolerated, but I don't know much about that either.

Gloria, I hope your son and the others get all of their belongings back since the theif has been caught.

My son said he took pictures of everything he had to leave behind and locked his closet, but we know that does not guarantee safety. Evidently all sailors are told to have renters insurance for their valuables because mine already had it. He would not have had it if he had not been told.

Gloria, I spent a day in New Orleans on my vacation also. I grew up about 45 minutes north of there and my youngest son is considering going to UNO next year. It is a beautiful city, even with the dirty areas.

Have a great week all!

I don't stop by alot either as our son is deployed and I'm just not following the HI groups much while he is gone but Gloria is your son in the barracks or in an apt? Glad he has renter's insurance! What a shame that a fellow sailor did this, I suspect it will be a career ender for that FTSN!

Alabama Kim, our son is in the barracks and I don't know anyone who could be of help and rent is so expensive there. There is a facebook page called Navy Region Hawaii - wonder if you can post a note there?

TGIF - hope everyone is well.

Hi everyone was on Vacation in New Orleans so haven't been on for a while...I just received and email from my son he's doing great out to sea in his sub... but he said that back at his home base Hawaii his room and some others were broken into...he doesn't know if anything has been taken he will find out when he gets back...the sad thing about it is it was a former crew member on his boat that is so sad. Just glad he has renters insurance. Don't know what going to happen to this other guy who is a FTSN by the way but what is wrong is wrong.

Yankee's Mom, my son is on a submarine, the USS Olympia. He has been with the ship for almost 3 years now. He is leaving on his first deployment in the next month or so (of course don't know the dates!)
