Hello Paigshleyship. I have probably read the same as you. My son is on the same ship. The Navy will not put them in harms way. Don't panic. Stay strong and encouraging. They can not tell us where they are going nor can we talk about it on the website. You will hear the saying loose lips sink ships frequently. They don't want to let anyone know there destination in case they are headed for a conflicted area. My son is on his second deployment with the Peleliu. Yes it is hard and very sad at first and it seems like time goes buy soooooooo slow. My suggestion is get a package in the mail today! it takes a while for the packages to get to the ship. Send pictures of you, the animals and family members. I went to San Diego to help move my son's items back to Colorado so he didn't have to do the storage thing. When doing so, I found a box of things I had sent to him on the last deployment. It made me smile when I saw that the little things I did for him such as pictures and newsletter articles meant so much to him. I am sure she has an email address on the ship. Keep in touch with her however don't forget to not talk about where they are. The ship is really good about keeping us updated of what is going on when they want us to know. They have a newsletter that they produce that explains what they have been doing. Hopefully this has helped. Please keep in touch.
Hello magaritas. You are doing it right. It may be a situation where the ship has not been deployed for a while. I am sure now that they are gone, this site will get more activity. i have met several great people on this sight. It's a great tool. Is this you son/daughters first deployment? If so, I can help you with some helpful hints. It's a tough time especially when they first leave. I know, I am feeling it. Please keep in touch.
I am new to this group...I see that it says that the latest activity is 2 hours ago, but when I look, I only see things that are a year old....what am I doing wrong that I cannot see this group?
Thank You Goobemom. I bet it has been a long 7 months. My daughter has to be joins her ship on January 5.
Welcome Cathi. Congrats on your daughter graduating A school. My son is on the USS Pelelui which is part of the same fleet as the Pearl Harbor. Yes they are all close to home. What a relief. It's been a long 7 months. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Good Morning! My daughter just graduated A school on Dec 8 and got verbal orders yesterday that she will be on the USS Pearl Harbor. So here I am. :-) Welcome Home and THANK YOU to all your sailors!
