Hello Everyone, Don't feel bad Kathy, it's been just as long for me to check in. This deployment has seemed twice as long as the last deployment my son was on. We have one month to go. Yeah! They are in Hong Kong and my son says they were able to get 16 hours of Liberty. Good for them. I think that is how much time in total they have had seen they left. My son also got a hotel with some friends. Then another tattoo. I am not for that however he is a grown man now.
Welcome V--- I have no idea about the MEU. I wished I could help. I understand wanting to be there for the homecoming. We all miss them so much we just want to physically hug them. I know that the last time my son came back from deployment, he needed his space to unwind. Yes the partying had to happen and his friends were more important at that time than his family. I didn't take that personal. He spent 10 months on that iron ship and he had to decomp before he came back to me as my son.
My son this time turned 21 while he was on the ship. He is planning the Vegas trip with me to make up for it. Can't wait.
I am so proud of every single Sailor and Marine on the Pelelui. It's been a tough journey however they all have made it through safely. They gave up a lot for the United States of America. I just wish everyone would recognize it.
Good morning everyone, its been a while since ive checked in. My daughter called from Hong Kong, shes having a great time, a bunch of them got a hotel, good break from the ship! Hawaii next, then home! it sure has been a long deployment! Hope everyone has feared well, I know at times for me its been pretty difficult! I miss my baby girl, at times so much it would ache, the only thing that really kept me from breaking down is the fact that shes so happy, and loves the navy, with no regrets on joining! How could I be sad?? love you Paige, Im soooooooooo proud of you!! See you next month!!!
Jodia is absolutely right. We all have to be careful. I will tell you that even when a date is given it will probably change several times. This is what I experienced on my son's last deployment. It is really not concrete until they are in US waters. I know everyone is getting impatient however we have to remain positive for the sailors. Based on the conversations from my son, moral is really negative because they have not had any time off the ship. Please do what you can may it being saying positive things, sending them things, or reminding them that they made a good choice by doing what they are doing.
does anyone know when the peleliu is do back to san diego from this loooong deployment???
Hello Julie, I am so happy for you! It will be so nice to be able to have him shore duty all the time. Tim was supposed to re-enlist however they told him he would have to spend another year on the ship. He was not happy with that. He said "Mom" I can't do another tour. I really don't like being on the ship. I have spoke to several Ex Navy guys and they have made suggestions for him and I have passed them on to him. The decision is his. I am here to support.
Julie, please keep in touch. Again Congrats.
Hello Bubu,
Welcome. It was a good choice for you to join. Usually one of us knows how to answer the questions that are asked. It's tough when you don't know what to expect or how or what to do. Hopefully you can get those types of answers here.
Julie, thanks for letting us know that Adam emailed you. They all just got their email back around 7 hours ago. if you haven't heard from them it probably means they are on duty. I am sure they are just as eager to talk to you as you are to them.
I hope everyone has got their Valentines gifts in the mail for them.
Hello Moms,
Everyone calls me Bubu, this is my first time on here. The "USS Peleliu FRG" like Julie said is more for spouces. But It is a good source for information. But your not allowed to post anything or have conversations like here. I joined so I know whats happening.
What is the FRG facebook group? How do I join that group? I have the USS Peleliu on my facebook.
Hello Everyone,
Julie is correct. I know it is difficult Snickerdoodlemom. We are right there with you. Not being able to hear their voice and give them support is really tough. Keep writing him. He will want to get caught up with the real world. Don't forget to get a package to him. My son said that the last time he was on deployment he looked forward everyday for mail call.
