Hi Ladies.  I'm new to this group.. Just found it while searching in the groups.  I've been on N4M's for about a month now.

My son left for boot camp on Oct 6th and is now just about at the halfway mark and will PIR on 12/02/2011.  The first couple of weeks were very hard, but I received the first letters from him last Thursday (he sent 3 in one envelope!) and my first call from him yesterday.  I got to talk to him for a whole 17 minutes!!!

We have a 13 year old female dachshund named Belle and a 2 year old white/yellow kitty cat named Tinkerbell. (I'll try to post pics but not sure how in this forum).

I'm looking forward to contributing in this group and hopefully making new friends along the way.

It took her a few days to get used to it, she kept looking at her arms and feet and asking me what was up with that.  She was so hard to keep unmattd and dry.  Her outer coat was 8" long and pretty smooth then all of the sudden she came up with this extremely curley poodle undercoat.  What a mess

Kathleen, We adopted a kitten of about the same age who needed a lot of care.  She was also "sassy and demanding". Now, 15 years later, she is in charge of the entire household.  She rules everyone with an iron fist, even our 50 pound puppy is no match for her 5 pounds of determination. She does what she wants, when she wants, and gets whatever she wants - no is not an option for her.  Good luck.

Kathleen I agree, lots of love and tlc, they say time heals all wounds. Keep us posted:)

Deb, as for the grooming? I tried grooming my last Springer because she was so frail but to no avail, the clippers kept getting stuck in her thick fur and boy did I make a mess of her then I tried just scissors how hard can that be? Omg the poor thing, I took her to the groomer and they did her on the floor instead of the table and she looked sooo much better lol. We are charged only $35 which I think is good for the fur that they have. Good luck!!

Hello all .. thought I would ask this question .. Does anyone groom their own dogs?  I am trying with my yorkie but he doesnt seem to like it at all.  Any tips or tricks .. professionals in this area are too expensive.

Kathleen, sounds like she may just need time and to start training from the beginning.  Lots of love and being taken out everytime she has an accident.  Hopefully, like most young puppies, she will get it with time. No telling what her first 5 months were like.  It is a wonderful thing you are doing. Good luck.
