Thank you for interesting thoughts Lisa /Chris's mom. We have Annie (our dog) on benedryl every four to six hours during the day as well as Tempril P which is a anti-histaimine and steroid, that is prescription only. She gets 1/2 a tablet a day as needed. She started out clawing her chest till she made a hole and it bled and we stopped that , but since then she moved on to her feet. I am going to try the baby wipes and see it that helps. I cannot afford to take her to a Doggie Neurologist to see if the problem with her feet is nerve damage when she was hit by a car. I think her feet tingle and she bites them to stop it. But I have no proof. I just feel bad for her. We did do allergy testing and she reacts to chicken so we make sure not even her treats have chicken. That is why she gets" Taste of the Wild" Wild Salmon and veggie kibble. I appreciate any help or suggestions we can get. I will try the wipes on her paws.

Hi Sandy and anyone else with allergy issues. We have a Springer Spaniel (Riley) he's almost 2 and when he was 7 months old we put him on an all raw diet. He gets raw chicken necks for breakfast and necks and mash (which consists of ground chicken parts and spinach, butternut squash, greenbeans, garlic and whatever veggies are on sale at that moment). He LOVES it! He does not chew his feet, he scratches his chin til it bleeds. the diet has helped a lot but he gets a benedryl (?) at night. Our vet says to also use babywipes frequently, and others at dog school (where Riley was nominated as class clown FYI haha) have to use wipes on their dogs paws for the chewing and they say that it helps. Hope this is helpful :)

Cheryl, would your son trust one of his friends to keep/take care of the snake for him???? Or does he only trust you? My brother had a snake when we were growing up...took it in the car with him...got loose in there...couldn't find it...my mom refused to drive the car until it was found (eventually it was!). I'm not a fan either, but one of my best friends is very into reptiles, birds, etc. She is the Director of Wildlife at our Museum in Miami, and they do rescues of all types of birds of prey, reptiles, etc. If you ever have questions about the snake that I could ask her for you, please let me know. She is amazing. Used to go out in the middle of the night with a group and tag alligators in the Everglades! Looking at her, you would never know. She is petite, girly, and very pretty...does alot of the tv promo for the Museum. Just a heads up! Loving that you and I found this group!

Hello ladies, I'm new to Pet Pages our dog is a chiwauwau/ doxie and fourteen or more pounds of love. She was a rescue and when we adopted her five years ago , she had been beaten, starved, and abandoned. She came to the rescue after being hit by a car. She was a mess in body and soul. Her hair grew back from where it was shaved and her body healed and after a year she started showing signs of trust. She hid food , hid from us and was afraid to be held and loved. The only problem that we have not been able to fix is her constant chewing of her feet. They are raw, we have had her to the Vet so many times and they tell us she has a touch allergy to everything. She won't wear booties, we have eliminated food as the problem she is on a grain free, corn free, salmon and potato diet. This food had fruits and veggies in it. The Vet recommended it, but we have still had to put her on allergy pills and steroids. She keeps blowing up like a balloon . Does anyone else have a dog with this problem and do you have any ideas how we can help her. She is the love of our lives, in some ways my third child. I feel so bad that she suffers so much. I do agree rescue dogs have so much love to give. She is our fourth rescue and a day doesn't go by that I feel so lucky to have her. She knows when I miss my sailor and is right there next to me. If anyone has a remedy better than the steroids I would love to hear from you.
Take care, Sandy H

Hi, Ladies. A wonderful mom on Boot Camp group told me about this group. I have a rescue Lab and a rotty/dobby/wannabe dog (brought home by my Navy son)...both 7. Just got the rescue Lab last year when we lost are beautiful 13 yr old Lab to cancer. We've had Labs since I was a kid (oh my....many years ago!). Also had a retired Greyhound that we acquired when my husband (vet) acquired a clinic back in 79. What a sweetheart! Sadly, she drowned in my parents' pool....just a month after we brought her home from his clinic....brings tears to my eyes still. If anyone has a pool, PLEASE make sure you dog knows how to get out of it...forget the swimming since most can...but if they don't know where to get it, they drown from exhaustion. Broke my heart...anyway, I'll look forward to reading back through these posts a little later! Off to my gym class to work out my stress! Have a good day, ladies!
