Hello Jaimers. I am a veteran mom whose son traveled this road in 2010. I am active in the BUDs groups. Hopefully I can help answer and questions or concerns you may have. Your right, it is a long, tough journey and having others to go through it makes it a little easier.

@ Sjtina..... Thank you ... yes im sure i will be full of questions... taking it one step at a time .. get through BC and pre-buds...

and just to confirm from pre-buds to buds their is no leave right ? .....

@ Nancy --- Im so happy our boys will have PIR together ... yay

Your right. No leave. They leave as a group.

Sjtina, When do they get leave ?

Nancy , Omg yes ...ha ha will be a site to c :)

Jaimers, once he finishes BC he can put a chit in for leave. He accrues 2 1/2 days a month. I think most the requests are in for Memorial Day weekend. Its not totally impossible to get leave, but unlikely. I know it sounds far away, but you can probably count on Christmas. They will have a restriction of a 50 mile radius at first, but will eventually change to 300 miles. I hope this helps.

Hi Sjtina,

Seem like you are well versed in this Navy "stuff".  Quick question; do you have any idea if the guys will know before PIR when they leave for 'A' school?  I am flying up from West Palm Beach Florida and will be staying the weekend in Great Lakes.  My son has a SWCC contract.  Thank....Linda

Can't help but be excited that my son's PIR is 05/11/2012. He was born on 05/11/92.  We will get to be with him on his 20th birthday!

Have you ladies gotten personal letters from your boys yet?  The form letter was helpful, but it didn't exactly warm my heart :)

@ Sjtina Thank you so much .... You are so helpful nice to have someone who is ahead ...Thank you again..How is your son... Where is he at in the journey ! Im familiar with the other process I have a Dau in the fleet already ...but this .....whew lol one day at a time lol

@ rbritz - Hi Im not expecting letters yet .. my son just arrived the 19th ... by next week i will start stalking the mailman lol ... Hoping to start seeing them come... have you booked flights/hotels/cars yet ?

Hi everyone,

I am new to this group.  My son left 3/19, such a hard day, but I am proud of him.  Just found out my son will graduate on 5/11.  He too is on Ship 4, Division 812.  I am missing him so much.  I am writing to him every day.  We received his box, but no letters yet.  It sounds like (from Jaimers) not to expect anything from our SR's just yet.

Thursday's seem to be a popular mail day.

Hi Mamaroo, looks like my son and your son got there the same day :) ...Welcome glad you found us in here.

I remember from last year when my Dau was in BC.. Our mail day was Weds. lol ... I told our mailman i will be stalking him starting next week lol .. Did you make travel arrangement yet?
