My son is in Nukes and heading for Charleston after PIR, Ship 09 Div 143 .
Waiting for his first letter/phone call, i hope by this weekend .
Yes, I agree Joe. I too, hope it's this weekend. It feels like it's been a lot longer than two weeks. I'll let you know if I hear anything. I've been writing almost everyday. Do you think they've started receiving mail yet? I read somewhere that it can take 5-10 days to get mail and sometimes they don't start getting it until 2nd or 3rd week.
I heard the same thing , hope to see neighbors this weekend at church to get more info on their son , his PIR is Good Friday, will pass on any info I receive.
Just received first letter from my son ! He is doing " as good as can be expected ", he's tired and sore, they keep him well fed and hydrated .It was written the second Sunday he was there, writing time was short, he could only write 2 letters, the other was sent to his wife, both totaling 3 pages GO NAVY !!
Awesome Joe!! We also received a letter today from our daughter!! She sounds great! It was written eleven days after she got there. She mentioned they don't sleep much, doesn't mind the workouts, and a ton of fast paced memorizing going on. Does anyone know if we can post their addresses for friends/family on facebook?
We are also driving and staying at Ramada May 9-11..takes 12 hrs to get there. My daughter will be going to Pensacola for A school. Have you had a phonecall?
You might want to try to visit her there. Pensacola Beach or Johnson's Beach (west of the base) are two of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Sugar white crystal sand, crystal clear water. Then there is the Naval Aviation Museum, and if you like light houses, theirs is one of the best I have been in. Lived there for over 10 years, including 7 years after I retired.
does anyone know if they get mail more often then just sundays ? I got a letter yesterday and it made me sad bc he said he has not recieved anything from me yet .
I understand the PO is closed on weekends, and it doesn't pay to overnight your mail , I believe that was posted somewhere on this site. We still haven't received any mail( except the form letter ) or phone calls.
I have a feeling our daughter hasn't received anything from us either. I've written everyday except for two days since I received her address. I think they get mail everyday, but I thought I read somewhere that they can only write on the weekends.
